The Lessons I Learned from my Miscarriages

Experiencing miscarriages can be emotionally challenging, but they can also serve as valuable lessons. In this blog post, I will share my personal journey through two miscarriages, highlighting the importance of metabolic health and the often overlooked emotional aspect in fertility. Discover how understanding these factors can contribute to building a fertile and safe body.

First Loss: A Wake-Up Call to Metabolic Health.

My first miscarriage in 2018 was a profound learning experience. Unaware of the impact of nutrition and lifestyle on fertility, I was unknowingly hindering my chances of getting and staying pregnant. From under-eating and inadequate nutrient intake to disrupted sleep patterns and toxins, my body was struggling to maintain balance. This experience ignited my curiosity and led me to become a nutritional therapy practitioner, recognizing the significance of metabolic health as the root cause of symptoms and dysfunction.

Running on Cortisol and the Body's Adaptation:

My go-go lifestyle had pushed my body into survival mode, relying heavily on cortisol. This constant stress response had a profound impact on my overall well-being and reproductive health. The symptoms I had been living with suddenly made sense as signs of metabolic imbalance. Understanding the role of cortisol and its effects on the body motivated me to delve deeper into the connection between metabolic health and fertility.

Second Loss: The Power of Emotional Healing.

With my second loss in December 2022, I had already gained knowledge about metabolic health and its influence on fertility. However, this loss brought to light the importance of addressing the emotional aspect. I realized that a safe and fertile body goes beyond physical well-being; it encompasses emotional healing as well. Unresolved trauma, conflicts, and emotional stress can impact the body's ability to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term.

Healing the Nervous System and Embracing Integration:

To truly nurture a safe and fertile body, it is crucial to heal the nervous system. This involves acknowledging the profound connection between the mind and body. Practices like German New Medicine and polyvagal theory emphasize the inseparable nature of our experiences, thoughts, and physical responses. By recognizing and addressing these factors, we can embark on a path of true healing and holistic well-being.
