How to detox the liver when TTC

Let's first talk about the liver. Contrary to what people think the liver is not just a filter for the body. While it does support detoxification for the body the liver itself has over 500 functions in the body including converting thyroid hormone T4 to T3, storing glucose and regulating blood sugar, hormone regulation including ridding the body of excess estrogen aka avoiding estrogen dominance. producing cholesterol, bile production and so much more! 

Most people are used to seeing “cleanses” and “herbs” that promise to detox your liver and have you feeling in tip top shape. Some even promise weight loss as well. The problem with these “cleanses” is that 1) toxins don't sit in our liver they get broken down and metabolized and released into the digestive tract for removal and 2) these cleanses are not FDA approved which means no one is monitoring what are in them or the safety of the ingredients. Many of them require cutting carbs & protein, fasting and/or not eating real food. 

 There are far better and SAFER ways to detox your liver than only drinking “juices” for 7 days straight. Below are my favorite ways to support the liver! 

So ditch the juice cleanse and focus on nourishing your body! It's one of the best things you can do for a healthy liver and optimal hormones!
